Mahbub Alam

The desire to help others, opportunity to learn and an optimistic outlook encourage and drive Mahbub Alam to explore new interests and occupations. Mahbub currently works as a teacher in Department of Education in NYC. His professional career started in 2004 when he first joined ALICO (American Life Insurance Company) in Bangladesh as a Community Liaison. In 2005 he served at JUBOK NGO as a local Community Organizer, where he was involved in providing loans to low-income families to facilitate establishment and rehabilitation, and student loans to raise education and literacy awareness, and enable underprivileged children to obtain academic degrees. He has also served as a Bengali-speaking Computer Instructor in Queens Library.

Mahbub, who is a first-generation immigrant in his family, had moved to the United States in 2008. Being a New Yorker has enabled him to live and work very closely with his own Bengali community.

Adventurous Mahbub is a travel enthusiast. His passion lies in the creation of innovative events, hence you will often find him at cultural programs that satiate his creative mind. Besides this, Mahbub also takes great interest in painting, photography, and music. As a family-oriented person, he loves spending time in his community with neighbors, friends and family.
