Bangladeshi Senior Initiatives

Our elders are important torchbearers who carry weight and wisdom among families and communities. Looking after them as they age in a city like New York is not easy, where there is a shortage of South Asian senior centers, and a lack of culturally and religiously-sensitive activities geared toward their needs. Shetu is a proud partner to work with Council Member Brad Lander in a new project for Kensington’s senior population called Kensington’s Bangladeshi Senior Initiatives.

Shetu will conduct survey assessments to better identify the needs of Bangladeshis aged 50 and older in the Kensington neighborhood in Brooklyn. This community data and research will inform priority services and programs to be offered by Shetu to Bangladeshi older adults in the neighborhood in the months to come.
